Site Build It isn’t software per se, where you pay once, install once, desktop control, but rather a subscription to a web based application that provides you with all of the tools you need to build a theme based web site that will ultimately lead to an income, hence this is an online business builder. You run the Site Build It application through your regular web browser.

I spent well over five years studying (not literally of course) Site Sell and all of their information, a ton of which I use and used in my business Off Media, an online business promotion full service web development, online promotion and multimedia company. The information is solid, common sense information, much of it free, in fact a massive amount of it is free, so I always felt there was a core of genuine truth to Site Sell.

I am a complete control freak when it comes to web sites. Though I am not a true programmer I do operate on a “need to know” basis where I learn just enough to get the job done and I do prefer complete control over every facet of web development, on the server. Site Build It! is the opposite of this. You don’t control the domain, you don’t control the server, you can’t ftp, in essence you are at the mercy of the application. So I resisted subscribing, because that is what it really is, a subscription to a web based application. There is nothing to install in the traditional sense and you use a web browser for virtually everything you do in Site Build It! I am getting tired of typing that exclamation point.

Anyway, I joined the 5 pillar affiliate program of Site Sell very early on to sort of keep my finger on the pulse, read the newsletters, spent a bit of time re-reading, purchased Make Your Site Sell which is now free, but still did not subscribe to Site Build It. I was always struck by how the 5 pillar affiliate program of Site Sell was always pushing Site Build It, yeah that makes sense if you are going to be advocating a product you ought to use it, but I was never really comfortable with the not so subtle soft sell. And the forums were all about selling Site Build It. Then I made a discovery, an entire community of SBIers as Ken Evoy calls them, are on the forums talking about business building. So in a way, the 5 pillar program kind of diverted me from building an online business in its own right, toward building a business selling a business building application, if that makes sense. You know, the typical “how to sell my how to sell book, a genuine opportunity”.

I promised myself that I could do it all on my own anyway, using Ken’s info but keeping complete control. Well, I didn’t do it. Finally, after not building these theme based sites I promised myself I would build for over five years, I decided that maybe subscribing and doing the work, their way, would be a motivator for me. So I subscribed.

This web site is my review of the process. I am keeping a diary of all my activity, and non-activity relating to my Site Build It experience. The bottom line for me was that any company that sells a product with the promise that you will have to work, and work very hard to expect any kind of result, is certainly not selling you an outright lie. This is a ton of work, an absolute ton of work. But I like work, really. I also like not working, and that is the goal of all of my Internet ventures. To be free not to work, to be Off Every Day. The other real advantage for those of us who are focus challenged is that the steps are there, just plug in and go. If you don’t, well, don’t expect any kind of result.
